Gender-based violence is a vast and multifaceted problem that calls for in-depth research. We spearhead and support research projects that meaningfully address forms of gender-based violence across the world.
Current focus areas

Overcoming barriers to women’s cancer care
Gender disparities lead to late diagnosis or poor treatment of diseases like cervical cancer, uterine cancer, and ovarian cancer. Our research examines how to improve cancer care for women among vulnerable populations.

Climate change and gender-based violence
Extreme weather amplifies gender inequalities and heightens the risk of violence. We’re working to understand more about the relationship between climate and GBV, and how to address these intersecting crises.

Respectful maternity care
Giving birth is a uniquely vulnerable experience. Our research examines barriers and solutions to preserving dignity and autonomy for all birthing people.

Technology-facilitated gender-based violence
Technology-facilitated gender-based violence is a growing public health and human rights crisis that disproportionately harms women and girls. We’re working to understand more about the prevalence, impact, and effective responses to this problem.
